I think the Microsoft "courier" is a great concept, and has a very intuitive interface for what it is supposed to mimic, a journal or "idea pad" but is a 21st century take on that idea, and moreover its a cloud enabled device, with a simple front end client and heavy lifting done in the cloud.

Trying to switch my main work system to Linux, but I still need some windows apps for managing active directory so I figured I’d resize the windows partition and use vmware2 to mount it as a disk for a windows virtual machine. Installing vmware2 has been somewhat frustrating because of missing kernel modules.
