The top 5 reasons that will get you called a Jerk by me on the road

Anyone who has driven through Atlanta during any commuting time, which by Atlanta standards is from the moment daylight breaks until well after it has set, probably understands where I would become frustrated with dealing with other drivers. Although thick traffic is enough to change anyone's demeanor, there are a few reasons that I would call you a jerk on the road. I'll begin with the least offensive of the acts and end with the most.

  • Reason #5 - Impaired driving while on a cell phone

Keeping things interesting

My mind was wandering today, contemplating the separation between people hearing you and those who really listen to what you have to say. This was just the spark for the topic, and got me thinking about the people around me at work.

My Fragments of Val'anyr

At this point I have just under 300 days played on my /played listing of my priest alone and have lead a guild for almost the entire amount of it. During this time I have seen and done so much of this game, and had the opportunity to play with a lot of the best that Khadgar has to offer in both terms of skill and companionship. As a guild leader, I feel that there is a certain level of sacrifice that you expect to make when you take on the role, similar to the sacrifices everyone makes for anything they are passionate about.

What do you work for?

When you perform a function, you expect to be compensated for it. It is a simple concept that has driven just about any market you can think of since the inception of time. In fact, when you put in above the average amount of work, it has become fair practice to expect compensation at a higher rate for overtime. I have had conversations with numerous people over this past week concerning the AIG bailout and bonus topic that has been sweeping the media.

Where did my money go?!

Yesterday I had an experience that I have had before, but it really got under my skin this time. While waiting in line at Wal-Mart a man about my age stopped me just before checking out. At a quick glance I noticed his entire matching orange outfit, from his obviously expensive hat and jacket all the way to the matching Jordan's on his feet. I would estimate this entire outfit to be around 250-300 dollars, and worth much more then my work outfit made up of 10 dollar khaki pants, plain collared shirt, and 20 dollar Wal-Mart special business shoes, and my Oracle badge.

Relquishing your pride is freedom

I was speaking with Atal today about a couple of things, and something came to my mind that I wanted to share. Relinquishing your pride is freedom. By this I mean that when you let pride effect your decisions, then ultimately you are a slave to fulfilling it's needs which I don't believe are the same as your needs as a person. When you feel shame because of a decision you want to make, and respond to that by making additional poor decisions then you are weighing yourself down without necessity.
